Historic central London pub, now part of the ‘Euston Tap’ family.
Previously the Dover Castle (Sam Smiths), the folks behind the Euston Tap, etc, have done a great job restoring this pub’s old features. Expect art deco touches and a warm, cosy feel around its several rooms. This pub is very central – nominally in Marylebone but less than 10 minutes’ walk from Oxford Circus tube – but it’s in a quiet mews just a street back from Portland Place. We were a little concerned to see just 2 of the 4 handpumps in use on a Thursday night not long before Christmas, so perhaps word of this new opening hasn’t quite got out yet, but it’s a lovely pub and well worth a visit. In addition to the cask ales there are 12 kegs on a decent list.
