Now reopened after a major refurb which has taken it up market. The new food menu looks good quality but doesn’t come cheap: the least expensive non vegetarian mains are £16. Unfortunately we were a little underwhelmed by the beer range on our first visit post-refurb. Their own pale ale is rather uninspiring, and there was only one other cask ale on – this on a Thursday night. The keg range is ok but has too many safe choices. The best quality is found on the bottled list. We will keep this place in the Guide for now and hope that the beer range picks up again and returns to something like its former glory.
