Wonderful traditional Harvey's pub.

Long time and much loved landlords Frank and John retired in January 2019, since when the Royal Oak has been directly managed by Harvey's. Thankfully, there have only been minor changes. For example, the net curtains have gone, allowing more light into the pub (though also providing less privacy); there are some hanging flower baskets outside; some of the old pictures have gone, and apparently there's some new furniture in the upstairs function room. But the important things remain unchanged - the excellent, high quality cask Harvey's beer, and the wonderful ambience in the two downstairs rooms, both of which are pretty much the same as ever. There are usually 6 Harvey's casks in excellent condition plus some bottles. It's great to see this fantastic pub continuing in much the same way as before.

A short walk from the bustle of the market and you are in the calm of this historic corner pub. A rarity in London, a pub owned by Harvey's of Sussex and offering their full range. 8 handpumps and a similar number of taps, some offering guest beers. A great place to while away an hour with a classic British ale.
